Intent
We want all of our pupils to leave St. Catherine’s as well-rounded sports people who demonstrate values such as fairness and respect. We teach our pupils key fundamental skills which they then go on to develop further through both individual and team games. We want pupils to understand the importance of physical activity, health and well-being, to support them to go on to live healthy and happy lives. We believe that not only should children have the physical skills but also the ability to be resilient, recognise their areas of development and take pride in their achievements. We give our pupils experiences of a wide range of sports and activities in the hope that they find at least one that they love and wish to continue to pursue long after they have left St Catherine's.
Participation
We afford every single pupil the opportunity to represent our school at a locality inter-school tournament or festival, as well as for their house team in our half-termly intra-school tournaments.
We ask that all parents and carers attending these sporting events follow our Code of Conduct for Spectators which has been developed with our locality partner schools.
Sports Crew
Our specially trained Sports Crew play an important role at playtimes getting pupils active and ensuring that our key sporting values of fairness and respect are evident in all games and activities.
Achievements
We inspire our pupils by celebrating sporting successes within our school community. We are part of the Littlehampton Area Sports Partnership who host a series of events for our pupils to take part in. Keep a close eye on our Sports Reports page for regular updates on our achievements.
